As the old saying goes: “Give a man a fish, and you will feed him for a day…teach a man how to fish, and you will feed him for a lifetime”.
As the pictures indicate, our friends have ventured from Hancock MD to La Vale MD, and as the pictures would indicate, they successfully caught a fish and ate it!!!!!!!!!
This further cements their claim to masculinity in my mind…. even if Nikola’s primary concern right now is that his hair is getting out of control…
We will be posting additional updates and pictures very soon, as well as a few surprises in store to make this experience more interactive and fun!
Stay tuned and please share your comments and good wishes, tell your friends, and if you would like to contribute to the cause kindly click on the donate tab of this page.
Thanks and keep swimming fishies!!!!!
Today we have great news everyone, Optimistic Trees team was graciously offered a warm place by no one other than Heather of Heather Food Tweaks and her family!

We would like to thank our friends Stephanie & Camelia for ordering us the most wonderful meal.
Update from the road…
Nikola and Antej spent the night in Hancock, Maryland last night. They decided to take a little break and recuperate after the arduous couple of days they had cycling through a storm and enduring the aches and pains manifested through hours and hours on the road. They are safe and well, despite Antej’s achy back and nikola’s swelled up knee.
Farhod has since left the group and is following his own trail. We wish him a safe and prosperous journey and will catch up with him once he’s back in town for an interview.
I had an interesting chat with Nikola last night about their experience so far. It is incredible to hear the mental and emotional rollercoaster that this trip has become. One would think that you would have good days and bad days, easy ones and difficult ones, but apparently the volatility is present hour by hour and minute by minute. Nikola spoke of hitting the “sweet spot” on the road. You are in the flow, hitting your stride, feeling good, thinking positively and enjoying the journey. However, the sweet spot is an elusive stranger that comes once in a while, but most of the time you are chasing it and dealing with ups and downs. Quite an allegory that represents life as we know it, isn’t it?
They miss home, their friends and are still in a place where they can’t believe they are doing this. That being said, they’ve seen a lot of beauty, are getting to know themselves a lot more and are still taking it one day at a time…
More to come soon.

Day 3 Storm
The boys are marching on… through the terrain, and currently through a storm. They are aching, tired, and are feeling the strain, but they continue…
Their current location is roughly around Williamsport. We will keep you posted on their progress. Through the storm they go…. anyone keeping count of the flat tires?
Send them positivity and good vibes!
